January 31, 2023:
Rome Transit Department (RTD) Ribbon Cutting

Tonia attended the Rome/Floyd Chamber's ribbon cutting of the new RTD bus fleet. She got to go onto the bus to see how accessible the bus was to the community. While she was there, she connected with the community and let them know about the resources we offer. 

March 30, 2023:
Mental Health Focus Group

We hosted a mental health focus group at Goodwill.  There were 7 participants, 2 representatives from Highland Rivers, 2 representatives from Rome Transportation, and 1 representative from the Department of Community Supervision. The discussion covered a wide range of needs and concerns for mental health provisions in the area.

April 18, 2023:
2023 Re-entry Simulation

Community Transition Coordinator, Carressa Hann, and Community Navigator, Emily Smith participated in the 2023 Rome Reentry simulation. The Event was held at Rome/Floyd Library: 205 Riverside Pkwy NE, Rome, GA 30161. In this, they got to see what it is like for those reentering society after imprisonment. 

April 20, 2023:
Probation Graduation

Community Navigator, Emily Smith, attended the Day Reporting Center (DRC)  Graduation. While there, she met and spoke with some of her past and current students from her Goal, Plans, and Success (GPS) Class. Some of them were there to work the event and others were there to watch their friends Graduate from DRC. There was a total of 44 graduates. Out of those 44, 33 were honors graduates. The honors graduates were those who never tested positive during their probation.  We are so proud of everyone who graduated from DRC and we hope to see more follow in their footsteps. 

April 24-26, 2023:
Georgia Northwestern Technical College Resource Fairs

Programm Manager Katie Brown, Information and Referral Erna Dobbs, Community Transition Coordinator Carressa Hann, and Community Navigator Emily Smith attended the GNTC Resource Fiars that they hosted at their different Campuses through the last week of April. On April 24 Carressa and Emily went to the fair that was held at the  Murry County Campus. On April 25 Katie and Erna attended the fair that was at the Floyd County Campus. On April 26 Carressa attended the fair that was held at the Gordon County Campus. When there they shared about our resources and programs as well as brought a few of the resources such as the Home Covid-19 test and our Emergency Ready Bags. 

April 26, 2023:
Vaccination Week

Program Manager Katie Duncan, and Community Navigator Emily Smith, partnered up with Floyd County Health Department in celebrating Vaccination Week by giving  COVID-19 home tests out to those with disabilities.  If you missed them you can still come by the center. We are located at: 527 Broad Street Suite 101 in Rome GA, 30161.

April 27, 2023:
Assistive Tool and Technology Focus Group

Katie Duncan, Carressa Hann, and Maribel Hernandez partnered up with Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Center to spread knowledge of Assistive Technology. If you missed the event but want to know about Assistive Technology, do not hesitate to call us at 706-314-0008.  We would be happy to teach and show you the different types of assistive technology and how they help people with disabilities. 


April 28, 2023:
Rome Transit Department Outreach

Tonia Clayton partnered up with Rome Transit Department to connect to the community and let them know about the resources and programs we offer and to let them know of the classes we have coming up.
